Topical antibiotics after PD catheter insertion

I was wondering if there were any references as to how long the topical antibiotic should be used after a PD catheter is inserted? Is there any preference to using Gentamicin vs Mupirocin cream? Gentamicin cream is back-ordered until at least December so we are switching, but I would like to know how long it is necessary to use it. Thanks for any help. Karen
