use of vitamin C iv

A number of our physicians have started ordering vitamin C iv 300mg qhd x 8weeks for hemodialysis patients who have high ferritins but low iron saturations. I am wondering if any other centres are using vitamin c for this indication. I am being asked to investigate this as I was told that we are "behind the times."
