Pamidronate and Osteonecrosis of the Jaw
Submitted by lsever on Fri, 2004-12-17 12:39
FYI, we have identified a probable case of osteonecrosis, brought on by tooth extraction in a HD patient who had been receiving 90mg of Pamidronate IV for 30 months. This just discovered two days before Health Canada issued an alert! I'll do a literature search and put it in the Renal Pharmacist. There is no safety data on using long-term Pamidronate in the HD population. Let me know if you have had any adverse events in your HD population please.
