metformin in HD pts

I was wondering if anyone has used metformin in HD pts? The renal dosing book suggests it is cleared with dialysis (membrane used not reported), but I am of course reluctant to use it considering it is generally contraindicated in renal failure. Has anyone used it and at what dose?
