Section 8 Drugs like Valgancyclovir

Hi All,
Wondering if any of you have a process in place to avoid transplant patients being discharged from hospital before section 8 approval has come through for something like Valgancyclovir. This seems to happen on a somewhat regular basis. Do some of you have a week's supply set aside in pharmacy for such an occurrence? Has anyone been able to get a compassionate supply from the manufacturer? Just wondering how best to handle this.
