Venofer and blood products

Our current hemodialysis policy for Venofer administration is to hold Venofer if blood products are being given. This is presumably due to the risk of iron overload. Usually our hemo nurses will hold the Venofer on that dialysis day if blood products are being given and give it the next dialysis session. Do your programs hold Venofer for a finite amount of time? Is this for whole blood, plasma, platelets? Do we need to be that specific? Does bloodwork need to be done pre and post? Seems complicated but we have been getting these questions lately.
