ceftriaxone and calcium-containing products

Due to the unavailability of cefotaxime, our institutions in St. John's are having to switch our 3rd gen cephalosporin of choice to ceftriaxone in the next few days. In light of the warning about calcium containing products and ceftriaxone, I am wondering if anyone has any experience/insight with respect to using it in hemodialysis patients. My initial instinct is that the calcium in dialysate is not the same as administering IV calcium - but the question was just posed to me today and I may be completely off track.

Has anyone had to deal with this yet? I would appreciate any advice.

thanks,
